This Privacy Policy describes how the Slack Auto Translator Extension ("the Extension") handles your information. Our primary goal is to provide translation services while maintaining the highest level of user privacy.

1. Single Purpose

The Extension has a single, narrow purpose: to provide automatic inline translation of Slack messages within the web interface to facilitate seamless communication across different languages.

2. Data Collection and Usage

The Extension is designed with a "privacy-first" approach. We do not operate a central server that collects your personal information or Slack messages.

• Message Content: To provide translations, the Extension reads visible Slack messages in your active tab. This text is sent directly to the translation endpoint you have configured in the settings (Custom API, LLM Endpoint, or Chrome's local AI).
• User Settings: The Extension saves your preferences, such as target language and API URLs, locally using chrome.storage.sync. This data is used only to maintain your configuration across browser sessions.

3. Third-Party Data Transmission

When you use the Extension, message data is transmitted to the third-party translation service you specify in the Configuration settings.

• If you use a Custom API or LLM Endpoint, your data is subject to the privacy policy of that specific service provider.
• If you use Chrome AI, translations are handled locally within your browser environment.

4. Permissions Disclosure

The Extension requires the following permissions to function:

• Storage: To save your translation preferences and API configurations.
• Host Permissions (*.slack.com): To detect messages that require translation and to inject the translated text directly into your Slack view.
• Tabs: To ensure the Extension only runs when a Slack workspace is active.

5. Data Retention

The Extension does not store Slack message history. Messages are processed in real-time for translation and are not retained by the Extension once the translation is rendered. Your configuration settings remain in your browser until you modify them or uninstall the Extension.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
